Manganite & Baryte (old classic circa 1880)

Ilfeld has easily produced the world's finest manganite specimens. Most were collected circa 1880. This showy and excellent combination features lustrous, striated, jet-black prisms, to about 1.5 cm, aesthetically set along the skyline of the massive manganite matrix. The glassy baryte blades are a fine and typical compliment. Bruised crystals are noted, but are certainly only a modest detraction to this classic and highly representative old-time combination.
