Item Description
A dramatic 4.2 cm wide vug is filled with splendent, striated, jet-black manganite prisms to 1.8 cm and is framed and accented by contrasting massive barite and finely crystallized manganite. This historic, old-timer is NOT just a "black rock" by any means. It displays very dramatically and impressively. These old pieces came out in about 1886-1888 (per Bancroft's book GEM & CRYSTAL TREASURES). This piece is solid, crystallized manganite ALL AROUND. Sharp crystals, good size, and high luster make this an excellent and affordable small cabinet. Comes with a faded old label in German, but again this is certainly the classic 1880s material.
