Item Description
RARE style, rich manganese-bearing calcite from Colorado's famous Idarado Mine. Most specimens are well-formed calcite scalenohedrons, with just a few rhombohedrons. Sparkly, sugary, spherical aggregates of drusy calcite crystals cover the matrix plate. Some of the balls have tiny, gem, 2nd generation, scalenohedrons growing off of them, adding character. Hot pink fluorescence. The piece is attached to a baked clay base and displays very nicely. Formerly in the Marlys Robertson Collection. Ex De Natura (Les Presmyk) dealer stock. Excellent and highly unusual manganoan calcite from this classic locale. Valued by Les at $750.
