Malachite with red Limonnite "casts" after Chalcopyrite (ex Kay Robertson Collection)

Item Description

An odd specimen from an undisclosed locality in Mexico featuring acicular forest green Malachite "needles" which are coating small well-formed pseudomorphs / "casts" of Limonite replacing tetrahedral Chalcopyrite crystals. Interestingly, some of the "casts" are broken and show a stark red color internally to create a lovely color contrast against the Malachite. The piece looks BEAUTIFUL up close and I've honestly never seen anything quite like it. If you collect secondary ore minerals, replacement / pseudomorphs or minerals of Mexico, don't miss out on this attractive and unusual piece that was probably from an isolated discovery.
