Malachite with Cerussite, Pyromorphite

Item Description

This large cabinet sized plate is from the two old well-known 1970s excavations at this famous small copper-lead-zinc prospect - Brown's Prospect at Rum Jungle. Large specimens are hard to come by today! The specimen consists of primary fibrous botryoids and flowing globules of a velvety, chatoyant, two-toned green Malachite with secondary formations of vitreous luster cream colored to clear Cerussite crystals and patches of tiny mustard yellow Pyromorphites. The focus of the piece is the center vug measuring 6.7 cm across that has protected the Malachite and Cerussites from scuffs and bruising. This area shows off the dark forest green and grass green Malachite globules and a number of terminated Cerussites, including a reticulated crystal that is 1 cm across. A highly representative specimen of these classic combinations of old material that is getting difficult to find on the market these days. Ex. Kurt Hefendehl.
