Malachite with Cerussite (1973 discovery) (ex Bob Reynolds Collection)

Item Description

Here we have a great quality association piece of this well known material from the Rum Jungle in Australia. The two most well known species from this area are Malachite and Cerussite, and good specimens are few and far between on the market. The piece features a base of green velvety Malachite which plays host to reticulated / twinned, golden colored Cerussite crystals measuring up to 1.6 cm across. It's a good display piece, and would make a fine addition to a secondary ore collection or a suite of Australian minerals. From the collection of Robert (Bob) Reynolds who passed in August of 2020. Bob was a well-known fossil and mineral expert and former Curator of Earth Sciences at the San Bernardino County Museum in California. The rare phyllomanganate-chromate species Reynoldsite was named in his honor in 2011.
