Malachite - unusual locality

Item Description

Here is an uncommon and attractive piece from Morocco made up of green-blue elongate, nubby stalactites of Malachite. The elongate, bumpy forms are in relatively tight parallel growth with great three dimensionality. They have a satin, almost velvety, luster to them and are in very good condition. The backside of the piece is hollowed out with remnants of orange-brown Goethite in places suggesting the Malachite was a crust on a Goethite matrix. We don't see much Malachite from the Touissit-Bou Beker area of Morocco and this is a beautiful piece. From the noted European and worldwide collection of Kurt Hefendehl.
