Item Description
A STRIKING, highly unusual, two-sided malachite specimen from the Mudinge Hole at the famous Mashamba West Mine of Zaire. One side consists of banded, light green malachite clusters with strange raised peaks in their centers. This side looks just like a cartoon animal, with the head on the left side. The other side has the typical, forest-green, botryoidal, velvet malachite look, but again has a very sculptural look to it. One end looks like it has a Mickey Mouse head and ears! Also, VERY INTERESTINGLY, the contact areas between the botryoids have a VERY DIFFERENT type of malachite: lighter green, glassy needles. This very fine piece is not diminished by the one small edge contact, that has very trivial bruising. All in all, this is an outstanding and very showy malachite specimen that REALLY leaps out, because of its geometry and form. Valued $750-900.
