Malachite stalactites

Dramatic and impressive large 3-dimensional, parallel-growth cluster of shimmering, chatoyant velvet Malachite stalactites. The striking stalactites resemble a dense cluster of green organ pipes from a symphony hall or large church. The contacts at the top and the few broken stalactites reveal the circular growth of the stalactites and the tiny hole hollow tubes, where the precipitating copper-rich malachite fluids flowed. Mass is 1345 grams or 3.0 pounds. Ex Jack Halperin Collection No. 2202. Purchased in the time when these old malachites came out of China in the late 1980s into the early 1990s. Jack assembled one of the great mineral collections in the world with over 3200 specimens. He is universally loved as one of the greatest gentleman in the modern era of mineral collecting.
