Item Description

This miniature sized specimen features attractive velvety green Malachite pseudomorphs which have formed after "sword"-shaped preexisting Azurite crystals sitting on gossan matrix. The largest pseudo measures 2.3 cm long, and while there are a few contacts here and there, it's still a good representation of this classic old material from Bisbee (specifically the Sacramento Pit / Sacramento Mine). For reference, the original Sacramento Shaft started in 1904 and produced high grade ore until 1931. The Sacramento Pit started in 1917 and both localities were exhumed by the famous large Lavender Pit in 1950. Specimens from either Sacramento locality are rare compared to other famous Bisbee mines.
