Item Description

Bisbee is one of the great localities, not only in the southwestern US, but the entire country. The area is best known for its copper minerals (both primary and secondary). This piece is a wonderful miniature featuring attractive and fine quality velvety green Malachite which has formed a gorgeous "sword"-shaped pseudomorphs after preexisting Azurite. VERY little damage to speak of, and really showy from several angles. Very good quality overall. This is classic material from the Sacramento Pit / Sacramento Mine. The original Sacramento Shaft started in 1904 and produced high grade ore until 1931. The Sacramento Pit started in 1917 and both localities were exhumed/absorbed by the famous large Lavender Pit in 1950. Specimens from either Sacramento locality are rare compared to other famous Bisbee mines. This piece is a great example of this hard to find material, and would make a great addition to an Arizona suite, a pseudomorph collection, or a collection of copper minerals. Valued at $950.
Ex Brian Kosnar specimen.
