Item Description

Here we have a wonderful miniature sized display specimen from the Sacramento Pit in Bisbee. This piece features fine quality velvety green Malachite, which has formed a gorgeous pseudomorphs after preexisting "sword"-shaped Azurite crystals sitting beautifully on oxidized matrix. The main pseudomorph measures 2.2 cm long. VERY little damage, and if you look closely at the termination, you can see there is a hollow opening at the top revealing what appears to be another pseudomorph INSIDE of the larger overall pseudomorph! Very good quality overall. This is classic material from the Sacramento Pit / Sacramento Mine. The original Sacramento Shaft started in 1904 and produced high grade ore until 1931. The Sacramento Pit started in 1917 and both localities were exhumed by the famous large Lavender Pit in 1950. Specimens from either Sacramento locality are rare compared to other famous Bisbee mines. This piece is a great example of this hard to find material, and would make a great addition to an Arizona suite, a pseudomorph collection, or a collection of copper minerals. Valued at $950. Ex Brian Kosnar / Mineral Classics specimen.
