Item Description

A very fine example of the elusive and desirable pseudomorphs of Malachite after Gypsum from the Apex Mine in southwestern Utah. This piece features velvety green Malachite which has formed a somewhat "finger"-shaped group that has replaced a single Gypsum crystal. The underside of the piece reveals a hollow "tube" where the Gypsum once existed. You can see the attractive layered banding on the underside as well. This is one of the best examples of this material that we've had to offer as it is very well-formed, and it's not distorted or "jumbled". The piece is damage-free, save the bottom where it was removed from the pocket wall. From the noted pseudomorph collection of Dr. Wouter van Tichelen of Belgium.
