Item Description

Here we have a very attractive specimen from the famous Whim Creek Copper Mine. This locality is a well-known copper-zinc deposit in Western Australia which dates back to 1887, but most of the specimens you'll see on the market today were collected in 1985. Most collectors are familiar with the beautiful pseudomorphs of Malachite after Azurite from this mine, but a small number of them feature beautiful, albeit small Wulfenite crystals. This specimen hosts a 2.5 cm "rose"-shaped group of velvety forest green Malachite which has replaced preexisting Azurite, and if you look closely, you can see several tiny very sharp, lustrous, textbook, well-formed, gemmy, rich golden colored crystals of bi-pyramidal and blocky Wulfenite measuring up to 2.5 mm on botryoidal Hematite / Goethite matrix. No major damage I can see, and the Wulfenites look fantastic under magnification. We've photographed the crystals with a Canon MP-E 65 mm macro lens to better illustrate their quality. A great specimen for any fan of secondary ore minerals, worldwide Malachite or Wulfenites, Australian specimens or micro collectors. These are rarely available on the market these days, so don't miss out.
