Item Description
An attractive display piece from the famous Lavrion District in Greece featuring velvety blue-green Malachite pseudomorphs after Azurite sitting atop a layer of stark olive green colored sparkling Smithsonite on oxidized matrix. I'm not 100% convinced that the pseudmorph is only Malachite, as it almost resembles Rosasite, like this famous pseudomorphs from Tsumeb where Rosasite has replaced Malachite which has pseudomorphed after Azurite. No damage, very showy, and the piece sits quite nicely on its own without the aid of a base or clay.
The piece was mined in 2020 and comes from the collection of Christos Spiromitros (#14J).
