Item Description

An aesthetic specimen of Malachite pseudomorphs after Azurite from the now famous discovery of 2007 at Milpillas. Although there were many of these specimens available a few years ago, fine quality, undamaged display specimens were few and far between. There are many fine-quality, velvety, dark forest-green crystals of Malachite that have altered from Azurite measuring up to 2.3 cm with minor attached matrix . The cherry on top of this piece are some small blue "spheres" of rarely seen Plancheite. A nice specimen of this well-known material, with minimal damage, though there are some rough spots here and there. From the collection of Robert (Bob) Reynolds who passed in August of 2020. Bob was a well-known fossil and mineral expert and former Curator of Earth Sciences at the San Bernardino County Museum in California. The rare phyllomanganate-chromate species Reynoldsite was named in his honor in 2011.
