Item Description

A gorgeous and showy miniature display specimen from Tiger featuring attractive pseudomorphs of chatoyant green Malachite which has formed pseudomorphs after preexisting blue Azurite crystals. You can see small spot of the original blue Azurite here and there, but the crystals are more than 90% Malachite now. The main crystal on the specimen is doubly-terminated and measures 1.3 cm long. The matrix appears to be a botryoidal Limonite. I think my favorite aspect of the crystals is the fact that they are notably lustrous, which is not commonly seen in this material. If you collect Tiger material, this is a really nice little miniature that would fit nicely into your collection. Ex Kay Robertson Collection (#7191). Kay was a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien Welt" November-December 2017).
