Item Description
A wonderful specimen featuring velvety, green Malachite which has formed pseudomorphs after blocky, prismatic Azurite crystals from the famous Tsumeb Mine. A small amount of un-pseudomorphed dark blue Azurite can be seen here and there. Very good condition overall and really eye-catching, though the largest pseudomorph has a contact on the corner. Classic material, not easily found on the market these days. Valued at $950 in the inventory. From the collection of Robert (Bob) Reynolds who passed in August of 2020. Bob was a well-known fossil and mineral expert and former Curator of Earth Sciences at the San Bernardino County Museum in California. The rare phyllomanganate-chromate species Reynoldsite was named in his honor in 2011. The piece comes with a wonderful old hand-written label from the prestigious British Museum.
