Item Description
A wonderful miniature sized display specimen from the world's most famous mineral locality. This piece features a classic, very sharp, pseudomorph of velvety, chatoyant, forest green colored Malachite which has replaced a preexisting Azurite crystal, with minor attached matrix. The textbook "sword"-shaped habit of the original Azurite crystals is still beautifully preserved by the Malachite, and these pseudomorphs are rarely this sharp and pristine from this locality. Excellent condition, with no major damage, save the base where the piece was removed from the pocket wall. A highly displayable and eye-catching piece, truly desirable in terms of the classic locality and the overall superior quality. Valued at $1,250.
From the worldwide collection of Richard ("Rich") A. Kosnar (1946-2007), the famous mineral dealer and collector from Colorado. He was the namesake for the rare zirconium phosphate mineral, Kosnarite.
