Item Description

An attractive and robust, three-dimensional display specimen of Malachite from a discovery in 2008 at Milpillas. There were many specimens of this material on the market a few years ago, and they have quickly dried up since the mine is done producing carbonates, and moved on to the base metals, meaning that there will be no more pieces like this on the market. Get them now while they're reasonable, because they will jump in value like many things that are no longer available from classic locales. I can draw comparisons to similar material from Tsumeb or various localities in Arizona where the value increased dramatically once the localities were finished producing material. This cabinet sized specimen features beautiful, velvety, semi-fibrous, forest-green crystals of Malachite forming pseudomorphs after preexisting Azurite crystals on minor matrix. What really sets this piece apart from others is that it has "depth" and beautiful aesthetics, and it's not just a flat plate. Very little damage and very showy as you can see from the photos. The largest pseudomorph measures 2.4 cm. Very little damage can be seen, outside of the back/base of the piece where it was removed from the pocket wall. A great example of what is guaranteed to go down as worldwide classics, and you need no further proof than the fact that the recent issue of the Mineralogical Record (Sep-Oct 2021, Vol. 52, No. 5) dedicated over 130 PAGES to the locality. This piece was originally priced at $5,000 in our inventory.
