Malachite pseudomorph after Azurite

Item Description

An attractive and fine quality velvety green Malachite which has formed a gorgeous "sword"-shaped pseudomorph after preexisting Azurite with smaller pseudomorphs sitting on gossan matrix. No real damage per se, just incomplete growth in some areas. The largest pseudomorph measures 4.1 cm long. This is classic material from the Sacramento Pit / Sacramento Mine. The original Sacramento Shaft started in 1904 and produced high grade ore until 1931. The Sacramento Pit started in 1917 and both localities were exhumed by the famous large Lavender Pit in 1950. Specimens from either Sacramento locality are rare compared to other famous Bisbee mines. This piece is a great example of this hard to find material, and would make a great addition to an Arizona suite, a pseudomorph collection, or a collection of copper minerals. Valued at $850.
