Malachite pseudomorph after Azurite (1980s)

A beautiful, classic specimen from Morenci, one of the great copper localities not just in Arizona, but the entire US. This eye-catching small cabinet specimen features attractive layered "rose"-shaped groups consisting of lustrous, tabular crystals of deep blue Azurite, which have largely been pseudomorphed to forest-green Malachite. The largest individual crystal measures about 1.3 cm. Minor roughness in spots, but no major damage on the display side. A great piece for any fan of secondary ore minerals, worldwide pseudomorphs or minerals of Arizona. Valued $750. You don't nearly as many good Morenci pieces on the market today as opposed to 20+ years ago. This piece was mined in the 1980s and comes from the collection of Stan Esbenshade.
