Item Description
A wonderful, classic small cabinet sized piece of this easily recognizable material from the world's most famous mineral locality. Some of the best and most well-known pseudomorphs of Malachite after Azurite have come from this mine. This piece features distinctive, fairly sharp, pseudomorphs of velvety, chatoyant, forest green colored Malachite which has replaced preexisting prismatic Azurite crystals measuring up to 4.7 cm, sitting on light green colored matrix. The "sword"-shaped habit of the original Azurite crystals is still beautifully preserved by the Malachite. Excellent condition, with no major damage. A highly displayable and eye-catching piece, truly desirable in terms of the classic locality and the overall fine quality. Valued at $2,000.
From the worldwide collection of Richard ("Rich") A. Kosnar (1946-2007), the famous mineral dealer and collector from Colorado. He was the namesake for the rare zirconium phosphate mineral, Kosnarite.
