Item Description

An old-time, very showy and aesthetic, floater combination specimen malachite-coated cuprite crystal from the famous mines at Chessy. Two, sharp, intergrown, malachite pseudomorphs after octahedral cuprite crystas to 1.0 cm are jaunitly set on four intergrown bladed azurite balls, that have fine color. The rich sprinkling of quartz on the azurite balls adds pazzazz and color contrast to the blue and green. The ancient Chessy mines were closed by the end of the 19th century and this is an outstanding combination example of classic forms and species. Similar have sold in recent years for $750-1000.
