Malachite ps. Cuprite

Superb example of a single, sharp, flattened octahedral crystal of cuprite, showing a mesmerizing trigon shape on the front surface. From underneath, you can see glimpses of red flash within. This is a classic textbook single crystal piece from the Oganja (Emke) Mine at Oganja, Namibia (1970s era finds). Note that many of these are gemmy within, and so the quantity available to collectors diminishes over the years as they have been destroyed to cut them into the world's best cuprite gemstones! This is a particularly sharp and balanced crystal, a companion to a different crystal habit for the same finds, shown elsewhere in this auction set.
