This fine, showy Malachite ps. Azurite is from the famous locality of Touissit. In a classic alteration, the Azurite crystals in the cluster are pseudomorphing into Malachite, all the while retaining the sharp, bladed habit of the original crystals. The largest of these bladed crystals is 3.9 cm, and the juxtaposition of the many crystals in all different directions adds character to this small cabinet specimen. The remaining Azurite, lustrous and translucent, provides an attractive complement to the now velvety, deep green Malachite, as well an an interesting, tell-tale footnote related to chemistry and history.
