An old classic style of chatoyant malachite crystal from Tsumeb, well known from the 1920s and earlier. According to the handwritten label here, mined in 1929, and from the collection with the most important provenance of the day - a large portion of which Dr. Pohl purchased when it came to market. This small-cabinet piece was originally in the significant and historical collection of Wilhelm Kegel, Director of Mining Operations at Tsumeb from 1924 to 1933. Classic for that time period, the deep blue Azurite, sharp and with a matte luster, has been largely pseudomorphed into rich green Malachite. The Malachite has good luster, and the nicely-textured surface is greatly enhanced by the numerous starbursts of radial growth. Fine aesthetics and substantial provenance make this a choice, vintage specimen. German dealer label provided.
