Item Description

Adorable and classic old-time thumbnail pseudomorph from the famous Sacramento Pit at Bisbee. Sparkly rich green malachite has pseudomorphed two beautifully intergrown, sharp, tabular, terminated azurite crystals, to 2.4 cm, and are very aesthetically set on the gossan matrix. The open pit and underground Sacramento Pit produced from 1923 until 1929. The Pit was later subhumed by the much larger Lavender Pit, which produced from 1954 until 1974. See the 1981 Mineralogical Record Bisbee, Arizona-III Special Issue, Vol. 12, No. 5. Specimens from either Sacramento locality are rare compared to other famous Bisbee mines. An outstanding thumbnail example of this hard to find pseudomorph. Valued at $1000.
