Lustrous, velvet malachite has pseudomorphed a striking and pristine thumbnail azurite crystal form famed Touissit. This outstanding blocky crystal has a fantastically sharp chisel termination, adding real pizzazz to this cutie. Single thumbnail crystals of this quality and form are rare and are highly desirable. Classic and very cute older material from the Willard Perkin collection or dealer stock (note the label on his TN box). He is generally credited as the inventor of the "Perky box" for standard thumbnails display. Ex Kay Robertson Collection. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record). The old sticker price on the box was $60. Valued today at $200-300.
