Malachite ps. After Azurite (uncommon) Gene Wright Coll.

Item Description

A rare and excellent pseudomorph thumbnail from the famous Morenci District and the Gene Wright Collection. Pretty light green malachite has mostly pseudomorphed a sharp azurite crystal. The back shows the azurite and the contacting on the right side of the pseudo is mostly out of sight. Gene Wright was a noted collctor specializing in Southwest Thumbnails. The Gene Wright label indicates this is rosasite, but MINDAT does not list this species for Morenci. This remains a very fine and uncommon pseudo from this noted Arizona locale. I trust the location as it came through dealer Cal Graeber in 1989, and there was active specimen mining here at the time resulting in a number of unusual finds.
