Item Description
Tsumeb is noted for fabulous, world-class malachite pseudomorphs after azurite and this is a most excellent and very aesthetic specimen. Two, very sharp pseudos form a striking "cross" and are attached to a bit of complimentary matrix coated with small smithsonite rhombs!.. The impressive large crystal is complete all-around and is very nearly pristine, with only very trivial out-of-sight edgewear on the back of the termination. The smaller cross crystal is doubly terminated. Both crystals have excellent chatoyancy. The lower, fat terminatin is pristine. The upper termination has a thin wedge of attached smithonite, which hides a trivial bit of brusing. This is a significant and outstanding, sculptural pseudo from this world-famous and now-closed locale. Ex Stout Collection # 546 and valued at $3000-3500. Seldom on the market in this quality.
