Item Description
Sharp, shimmering pseudomorphs of malachite after tabular azurite crystals are aesthetically intergrown on this sculptural large and rich specimen from recent finds at the now famous Milpillas Mine. The impressive large pseudo on the lower left with the sharp edges is about 4.0 cm and all of the pseudos have a nice shimmer. The bit of attached porphyry matrix adds contrast. Mining began in 2006 and world-class specimens of azurite and malachite after azurite reached markets in 2007 and 2008. World-class specimens of Brochantite and Volborthite followed in the 2010's. Ex Bob Reynolds Collection, a well-known fossil and mineral expert and Curator of the San Bernardino County Museum. He passed away in 2020. Bob acquired this excellent piece early on, when specimens were hitting the market. A classic large Milpillas pseudomorph of this varietal with richness, fine form and good-sized crystals from the earliest finds here. The oxide zones has been mined through on this copper mine. These only go up in value from here...and this is a big, showy specimen.
