Malachite (''Primary'') on Malachite

This is a wonderfully attractive specimen of Malachite from the famous Mashamba West Mine in the Congo. Over the years, we have seen many of these pieces come through but they do seem to be dwindling on the market, so we might be reaching a time when there are less available. This specimen hosts a 2.7 cm, fine quality, semi-lustrous, velvety / chatoyant, forest-green color group of what is called "Primary" Malachite sitting atop a previous generation or more muted olive-green color Malachite matrix, forming an aesthetic display piece. The earlier generation of Malachite has formed both in botryoidal groups and blades (possibly a pseudomorph after another species?). You don't often seen two generations of Malachite together like this on the same specimen. If you collect secondary ore minerals, worldwide Malachite or specifically pieces from the Mashamba West do not miss out on this showy and display specimen.
