Item Description

A gorgeous, elongate piece of several, cone-like clusters of Malachite from the Star of the Congo Mine. Silky lustered aggregates of acicular Malachite compose each one of these fascinating structures with the fine, divergent needles giving the specimen its sheen on the underside and velvety appearance on the top. It is a very fine piece with at least nine of these divergent, grouping strung together displaying a bright silky green with almost a chatoyant, radial fibrous texture on the bottom and a slightly darker green, sparkling green rounded texture on the top surfaces. It is a fine, sculptural piece from the Congo. Unusual habit! This is a rare form for malachite, and it is not a replacement of previous azurite crystals as are so many large malachite crystals you see, but rather a natural "primary" malachite growth.
