This is a beautiful polished slice (a cross section of a stalactite) of Malachite from the Katanga Copper Crescent in Haut-Katanga, DR Congo. This area is well-known for producing a large quantity of some of the finest Malachite in the world. Not only has this area yielded a great number of specimens, but also plenty of top-notch lapidary grade material, which is often carved / polished. This piece shows gorgeous radial / banded patterns of light and dark green colored Malachite, free of matrix. A beautiful piece of this classic material. The piece weighs 67.09 grams.
