Item Description

This is the finest quality possible in a malachite slice, cut from a thick section of intergrown, parallel stalactites from this famous African mining location. The photos say it all - mesmerizing pattern, crazy high quality, and shape. This is just under 50 grams in mass, not small and not too big. It is such a good slice, that you can display it quite nicely next to fancy mineral crystals, and it would hold its own for sheer beauty. While malachite slices are common as singles, doubles, and sometimes get bigger and better, this is just such a ridiculously beautiful specimen in a good size range, that Jack himself had it sitting comfortably next to mega-$$ minerals on his shelves for decades. We are honored to present another lot of deaccessions to auction from the collection of Jack Halpern of San Francisco, as featured in the Mineralogical Record, March 2005.
