Malachite on Limonite (Germany!)

Superb, old-time Malachite specimen from the Vahlberger Zug iron mine, which was closed in 1920. The largest spray of Malachite is 1.4 cm tall, and it rises majestically above the Limonite matrix. No amount of photos can adequately show just how good the adamantine luster is on the Malachite. To the naked eye, it has this amazing, electric green glow to it that is simply fantastic. Previously in the W. Schmidt collection, this was #668 in Kay's collection, acquired over a half-century ago. Better in person. Stunning and colorful, this is a rare German maachite worth putting on a shelf! Valued $750-1000
