Item Description
A beautiful small cabinet display specimen of this classic material from Tsumeb. Displaying great adamantine luster and translucence, this robust specimen of Cerussite exhibits textbook reticulated twinning and comes with a highly unusual accent of malachite balls upon its tips! This big Cerussite has a pronounced smoky hue through most of it and is a typical sixling twin for the species - representative, but with some edge wear, so it's not completely damage-free. But, this piece is not about the Cerussite itself as it has several dark emerald green spheres of Malachite measuring to 5 mm across, with a satiny luster, randomly distributed to create a very pleasing effect. This association is not at all common for Tsumeb. An attractive oddity! As a bonus, there is another mineral on the piece - a druse of light green micros, that could be Mottramite or Duftite, or something more rare like Fornacite (?). Valued at $1,250. From the collection of Jelani Daniel, and originally in the collection of Shields and Frances Flynn.
