Item Description
RARE, rich and showy large combination from this less well-known New Mexico mining district. Pretty, chatoyant, acicular, primary Malachite nearly covers all of the RARE, matte luster, navy-blue Azurite botryoids on the undulating, layered gossan matrix. MINDAT does not list azurite for the locale, but does list Chrysocolla, and there are photos of malachite and chrysocolla. Ex George Loud Collection No. 1424, a well-known Washington, DC and South Carolina mineral collector. He acquired the specimen from Tom Taaffe in 1996. See: https://mineralogicalrecord.com/biographies_labels/george-loud for more information on George. We recently acquired most of his impressive over 9000 piece collection. A rare, noteworthy large combination from the Orogrande Mining District.
