When it comes to iconic combinations in the mineral world, Azurite and Malachite is one of the classic associations, beloved by collectors. The soon-to-be-classic pieces from the Liufengshan Mine in China have been around for about 20+ years, and they remain some of the most beautiful and fine quality examples of Azurite with Malachite ever seen from any world locality. They have all the characteristics of the classic associations from Bisbee, Arizona with their intense midnight blue Azurite crystals and gorgeous velvety green Malachite associations. You could still consider these as contemporary pieces, but they surely will go down as classics, as they are some of the most attractive representations of Azurite and Malachite out there. This fine quality full cabinet sized display features wonderful, attractive, velvety, rich green spherical groups of Malachite, sitting atop almost drusy, deep blue colored Azurite on oxidized matrix. It's uncanny how much the piece resembles Bisbee! The piece is in excellent shape overall, as most of the Malachite "balls" are undamaged, but the larges mass on the top right corner of the specimen is irregular where it grew against the pocket wall, and there is contacted on the periphery in the same spot. A very showy, eye-catching and good quality example of these now beloved specimens. Valued at $1,800, formerly in the inventory of Brian Kosnar.
