Item Description

Malachite botryoids are richly invested on all sides of the vuggy blocky iron ore matrix on this colorful old-timer from the Brendon Hills. The iron mines in this obscure English district were active from the 1830s until 1883 (MINDAT). Malachite was the primary collectible species along with some rarities. Ex Kay Robertson Collection # 2029 and acquired from Marion Godshaw in the early 1960s. Kay is a prominent California collector, who specialized in European classics (see the article in the March-April, 2007 Mineralogical Record and the 50+ page article in the German Magazine "Mineralien-Welt" November-December 2017). Exceptionally rich and excellent malachite from the locale and undoubtedly old-time material.
