Item Description

Numerous banded malachite "eyes" stare out at you on this striking slabbed and polished specimen from the famous mines at Bisbee. This is an extraordinarily rich old survivor from the days when such thick masses were used for malachite carving and jewellery. Today, we rarely see such specimens turn up for sale. This is old-time, very dense material and is definitely cuttting grade and lapidary quality, with thick zones of high carving value. Ex Dr. John Ward Collection. Valued at $900-1500. Hefty at 489 grams or 1.1 pounds.
