Item Description
A beautiful cabinet sized display specimen featuring a full coverage of velvety rich green Malachite crystals from the famous Katanga Copper Crescent in DRC. The label states that this piece is from the Kataltala Mine, but I can't find a listing for this specific locality (possibly from the Kamatanda Prospect or Kalabi Mine) . The Malachite has formed in radial groups creating dozens of eye-catching "fuzzy balls" all over the display side of the specimen. The piece is in superb condition overall, with very little damage, and I love the fact that the Malachite isn't matted down and still shows it sparkly and chatoyant qualities. Associated black Tenorite makes for a wonderful touch. This isn't just a run-of-the-mill Malachite from the Congo, but a very good quality, eye-catching display piece. The specimen also comes with a custom made black polymer display base. Originally priced at $850. From the collection of Wouter Van Tichelen.
