Item Description
Lustrous chatoyant velvet malachite covers the hefty, undulating ore specimen of nearly solid euhedral cuprite crystals from the famous New Cornelia Mine at Ajo. The cuprite crystals reach about 6 mm on this colorful and surprising combination. The bit of attached matrix adds contrast and character. Periphery wear at the top of the piece reveals the lustrous, wine-red cuprite crystals. Choice and uncommon combination material from the Bruce Murphy Arizona Collection # 085 and collected in the late 1960s, according to his label. Mass is 222 grams.
