Malachite-coated Cuprite (old classic) ex Whitmore

Item Description

An old-time, excellent, floater malachite-coated cuprite crystal from the famous mines at Chessy. This classic is pristine and has lightly modified octahedral crystal form. You can see areas of wine-red cuprite poking out on the corners and faces. The ancient Chessy mines were closed by the end of the 19th century and this is an outstanding example of a classic form and species. Ex Robert Whitmore Collection and comes with an older English label. Similar have sold widely in recent years for $400-500.
