Malachite-coated Cuprite (old classic) ex Obodda

Item Description

A very fine, sharp, floater malachite-coated cuprite crystal from the famous mines at Chessy. This classic is pristine and has lightly modified octahedral crystal form. You can see the exposed red cuprite with the malachite and limonite. The ancient Chessy mines were closed by the end of the 19th century and this is an outstanding example of a classic form and species. Ex Herb Obodda dealer stock and valued by Herb at $200, many years ago. Similar have sold widely in recent years for $400-500.
