An exquisite 1.4 cm malachite "Christmas tree" is beautifully framed by azurite botryoids on this sculptural and aesthetic combination from the famous mid-1980s finds at Morenci. These finds yielded fantastic azurite and malachite stalactites to over 14 cm. Two small "chimneys" or stalactites, to 1.0 cm, are dramatically perched at one end of the ship-shaped piece. The tip of one of the chimneys is broken, but is certainly only a modest detraction. This is a signature Arizona find over the last 40 years and this is an excellent example. Ex Ted Bartels Collection. He paid $300 for this in the 1980s. Value today is $750-900.
