Item Description

A classic specimen of the famous Mashamba West Malachites featuring a group of beautiful green chatoyant "tufts" of acicular crystals intergrown into distinct clusters free of matrix. The crystals shimmer and change in reflectivity as you turn the piece in the light showing that wonderful cat’s eye-like effect. The top of the specimens has some bruises, but honestly, the underside is more interesting to view. From the worldwide collection of David Burgess (1951-2016). David was a prolific species collector from Newington, Connecticut, and the namesake for the extremely rare cobalt arsenate species Burgessite, which he discovered.
