Item Description

One usually thinks of world-class gem pegmatite minerals and rare species from Brazil. So, to see oxidized copper minerals from Brazil is truly unusual and rare. Interconnected rosettes of malachite and azurite form a colorful, attractive and sculptural specimen. Most of the rosettes, to about 1.3 cm across, have been pseudomorphed to malachite but there are still a few that remained azurite. The azurite is lustrous and a rich blue while the malachite is lustrous with an emerald-green color. They look like Bisbee or China, but are not. Showy and rare! From a small find in the 1990s, with none since.
