Top-notch and classic for this historic Russian locality, this is indeed a true rarity for the copper or location collector, with unique aesthetics. This specimen is composed of over two dozen, lustrous, two-tone, botryoidal Malachite spheres stacked upon one another. The smooth, banded Malachites range in color from sea green to forest green and the color contrast is rather dramatic, and it adds much to the visual appeal of the piece. The largest Malachite botryoid is about 1.5 cm across and all of them have a concentric series of circles that almost appear engraved onto their surfaces. An old-time and outstanding specimen for sure. We have never seen one of this style, so large and well preserved, for sale (maybe there was, and we did not see...only that, this is the best of the style we HAVE seen). While malachite from this location was once abundant, most is lost to history, or to carving and lapidary works.
